You stand back and lean on your dirty shovel, wiping sweat off your forehead with the back of your free hand and stare at the patch of freshly upturned earth a few paces ahead. The deed is done.
And then, one day, your hard work pays off. The vivid green finger of the seed you had sown pokes out of the soil, extending day by day as it struggles to touch the sky. You immediately begin nurturing it. Soon, it unfurls a leaf, and then another one and then one more.
But things begin to go wrong.
You watch in horror as the seedling, tainted by the touch of some fell force, begins to transform into something twisted. Sharp spines and midnight black thorns sprout all over it until it seems jagged enough to cut the very air surrounding it. It grows - fast - but at odd, horribly contorted angles. The flowers it sends out in the dead of winter are dark red, black even, and give off the unmistakable, metallic stench of blood.
What do you do?
What do you do when you begin to grow into the wrong sort of person, the kind of person you never wished to become?

You take control..of yourself more than anything.
Totally enjoyed the dichotomy of the whole post, and the way it was expressed made it an altogether satisfying read. Well done!
I don't know. maybe you need to alter your definition of right and wrong.
Realising you are not supposed to be what you are, is the first step of change.
You start making excuses for why you became that person.
Wonderfully written piece, firstly.
And I'd mould myself and love what I had become, though. There's still uniqueness. And the potential for change. Always.
you expresss welllll-
i can relate-sadly enough
i seriously don't know what you do when such things happen...because i'm going through the exact dilemma in my life...
you blame others for your failures
Ooh. Two new posts! Im gonna read them araam se.
Two posts in sucha long time is very few though -.-
Well.
For starters, go back to the people that knew you before you changed and ask them for pointers on how to become that person again.
If that doesn't work, read some of your old writings or journals to see what you used to think like.
If that doesn't work, try to embrace the new you. Maybe it's not as bad as you think. Everyone changes.
If that doesn't work, yell at everybody within a ten-mile radius about how the apples have become ninjas and they are harassing you with their glowing pies. That should do it.
..
:D
Amazing yaar really. You write so well, I wonder why you write so less.
This is... Wow. Because, I am that twisted seedling. And, you've described it beautifully.
It's like you described the beginning of the world.
awesome piece of writing
Realization means that half your battle is won. In the end what matters is how you finish, so don't lose heart because of the darker shades of life, you can come around and make things right.
